About the Press

Identity, Mission, and Editorial Policies

1. History and Identity

Founded in 2018 in Mexico, Aliosventos Ediciones AC is an independent, non-profit publishing house characterised by a "mendicant" and convivial spirit. Our purpose is to create a space for intellectual resistance and interdisciplinary dialogue. We define ourselves as a "press on a pilgrimage," focused on returning to the original sources of thought to offer critical responses to the crises of the contemporary world. Since our inception, we have sought to establish the book as a catalyst for intelligence, contemplation, and transformation—both for the individual and for society at large.

2. Focus and Scope

The Aliosventos catalogue is built upon three fundamental pillars:

  • Scholarly Research: Specialised in Philosophy, Social Sciences, and the Liberal Arts. We prioritise works that explore ethics, mysticism, the philosophy of religion, migration, and non-violence.

  • Spirituality and Critical Thought: Texts that recover sapiential traditions and mysticism as tools for profound social analysis.

  • Literary Creation: A curated selection of fiction and poetry that engages in a dialogue with the house’s aesthetic depth and humanist values.

Our scope is international, with a decisive emphasis on generating thought from and for the Global South, fostering bibliodiversity and the exchange of frontier knowledge.

3. Open Access Policy and Social Justice

In keeping with our mendicant vocation and our commitment to social justice, Aliosventos Ediciones AC adopts an Open Access policy for its research and spirituality collections.

We believe that knowledge is a common good; therefore, we eliminate economic barriers to access for readers and students, particularly in regions historically marginalised from the commercial circuits of global academia. Our digital publications are available free of charge, ensuring that high culture and rigorous research circulate without restriction to benefit social development.

4. Editorial Process and Peer Review

To ensure excellence and scientific rigour, Aliosventos adheres to the established conventions of academic publishing:

  • Peer Review: All previously unpublished works by living authors in our scholarly series undergo a double-blind peer review process.

  • Editorial Board: We maintain a collegiate body of international academic authorities who oversee the relevance and quality of each collection.

  • Literary Curation: In our creative lines, works are selected for their aesthetic quality and coherence with the house’s humanist vision.

5. Legal Status and Sponsorship Disclosure

Aliosventos Ediciones is legally constituted as a non-profit Civil Association (Asociación Civil). Our activities are funded through community collaboration, donations, and the reinvestment of resources into our social objectives.

We do not rely on corporate sponsorships that might compromise our editorial independence. As a civil society entity, we dedicate our efforts to the advancement of the humanities, arts, sciences, gender equity, and the defence of human rights—integrating the act of publishing with the active promotion of social development and civic engagement.
